Joe Tippmann
No. 66 · 4th season
48 starts, four years, and now the Jets made it official
Some players spend their whole career proving they belong. Joe Tippmann has spent two seasons proving the Jets were right to believe it from the start.
Tippmann came into New York as a draft pick in 2023 and went straight to work. Right guard on an offensive line is not a glamour position — nobody's making highlight reels of a center's footwork — but it is the kind of job where the whole offense feels it when you get it wrong, and feels it just as much when you get it right. Tippmann got it right often enough to start 48 games in his first two seasons.
The Jets have now signed him to a four-year contract extension worth in the range of $66 million. The number says plenty about how much the team thinks of him — and about what a reliable, durable presence on the interior offensive line is actually worth in this league.
For a franchise that has spent a long time searching for stability at nearly every position, locking up one of the young pieces of its offensive line ahead of schedule is a different kind of move. It is a bet on the foundation, not the headlines.
Tippmann is 24. The next four years are a long time to build something.
