Dohnte Meyers
No. 81 · Rookie
A Canadian coming in with something to prove.
Dohnte Meyers arrived in Cincinnati from the Canadian Football League carrying the weight of a long shot -- a player trying to turn a preseason moment into a foothold on an NFL roster. In the Bengals' preseason opener Thursday night at Paycor Stadium, he moved. Four touches, 42 yards. An 11-yard punt return that showed he could make something happen even when the defense was set. It's not a season. It's not even a statement yet. But in a preseason game the Bengals won 16-14 over Detroit, Meyers did the thing that matters most to a depth-chart player: he looked ready. Training camp had already shown something -- coaches don't bring a CFL import into the fold unless he's turning heads in shorts-and-shells. This opener was the first real test against NFL speed. He was still standing when it ended.
