There is something honest about a roller coaster in July. Everybody can see it, and nobody can fake their way through it.

Anthony Richardson is a young quarterback still figuring out what he is capable of. The tools have never been in question — the question has always been the in-between stuff, the bobbled snap, the throw that doesn't go where it was supposed to, and then the moment right after it that tells you something real.

This training camp has had both. Sharp plays and stumbles, sometimes close together. That is either worrying or exactly the kind of uneven work that a young player has to log before anything smooths out.

What's happening this summer is not a redemption arc and it's not a warning sign. It's a quarterback doing the hard part out loud, where everyone can see the good and the rough at the same time.

The version of Richardson who walks out of camp will have been tested by both.
