Tom Brady said Aaron Rodgers might be the greatest passer in NFL history. That's a sentence most quarterbacks spend entire careers hoping someone will say about them. Brady said it. And then, when it came time to name his favorite current quarterbacks to watch, Rodgers wasn't there.

Rodgers is now with the Pittsburgh Steelers, starting a new chapter after everything that came before. The praise Brady offered is real — it's the kind of thing that gets quoted forever. The omission is also real.

That gap between what someone says about you and how they actually feel about watching you — that's a whole conversation. Best passer ever, maybe. Appointment television, apparently not.
