Caleb Williams came back lighter, and it was his idea
The hardest offseason changes are the ones nobody makes you make. Caleb Williams didn't wait to be told.
Williams enters his second year with the Chicago Bears having shed between 10 and 15 pounds on his own — the result of lifestyle changes he says he chose and carried out himself. That kind of detail tends to get buried in the transaction wire. It shouldn't.
For a young quarterback still finding his footing at the highest level, the body is a message — to the coaching staff, to the locker room, to yourself. Showing up lighter, by your own hand, before anyone asks, says something about where your head is.
Year two is when the league starts forming its opinion. Williams seems to already know that.
