Coby Bryant was carted off practice, and the Bears held their breath
It happened during one-on-ones — the part of practice that's supposed to be controlled, almost routine. Coby Bryant went down with an apparent knee injury and didn't walk back out.
Bryant came to Chicago this offseason as one of the team's more meaningful additions in the secondary, a player they were counting on. He hadn't even made it to a real game yet.
Being carted off is never a formality. A knee injury in the middle of summer camp — before a single snap counts — is the kind of thing that can reshape a season before it starts, for the player and for the team building around him.
Now everyone waits on word from the medical staff. For Bryant, the summer just got a lot longer.
