Daniel Jones gets his medical clearance — and training camp starts Wednesday

An Achilles tear has a way of making everything feel distant. The field, the huddle, the ordinary chaos of a training camp Tuesday. For Daniel Jones, that distance is about to close.

Jones has spent recent months on the far side of one of the hardest injuries a player can face — a torn Achilles that ended his season before it really got going. He did not play his way back into a quarterback conversation. He just kept working, quietly, until the doctors ran out of reasons to hold him back.

Now they have. Jones has been fully cleared, and when the Indianapolis Colts open training camp Wednesday, he expects to be in full-team drills — not watching from the side, not on a pitch count, but in it.

Getting cleared is one thing. What it means for his standing on this roster, and whether he is ready to carry a season, is still being written. There is a note of caution worth holding — not everyone agrees on what 'ready' looks like beyond this week. But for now, Jones has cleared the first real hurdle.

Wednesday is not a comeback story. It is the first day of one.
