Linebacker
Devin White
No. 45 · 8th season
Devin White took his time, then picked Detroit
He didn't rush it. While the rest of free agency moved at its usual frantic pace, Devin White sat with his decision — and eventually landed with the Detroit Lions.
White is a linebacker who has been a starter in this league, someone who knows what it takes to be part of a winning locker room. He had options, or at least took long enough to suggest he did. That kind of patience in free agency usually means a player knows what they want and is waiting until the situation feels right.
Detroit gave him that feeling. White said so himself, explaining his reasons for choosing the Lions over whatever else was on the table. The Lions have been building something real over the last few years — a team that has gone from irrelevant to one of the most talked-about in the league, and one that players genuinely seem to want to join.
For White, this is a chance to matter again — to be part of something instead of waiting on the outside of it. For Detroit, it's another piece added to a defense that has championship-level ambitions attached to it now.
The choice has been made. What he does with it is the part worth watching.
