Emmanwori starts his Seattle chapter on the mend

The first thing the Seattle Seahawks asked of Nick Emmanwori was patience. Before he ever took a rep at training camp, he was placed on the physically-unable-to-perform list following surgery on his right ankle — meaning he'll watch from the sideline for most, if not all, of camp.

Emmanwori is a safety, and whatever he was brought to Seattle to do, he can't do it just yet. The ankle surgery is recent, and the team is being careful. That's the whole story right now.

The saving grace is timing. The Seahawks expect him to be healthy for Week 1, which means this is less about lost opportunity and more about a delayed start. But training camp is where trust gets built — between a new player and a new coaching staff, between instinct and scheme. Missing it isn't nothing.

So Emmanwori arrives in Seattle already behind a schedule nobody planned for. Whether he can close that gap before the season opens is the first real question of his time here.
