Gardner-Johnson says a GM's friend cost him his job in Houston

He got cut. That much is plain. What Gardner-Johnson added was the part that sticks: the reason he was released by the Houston Texans, he says, was a confrontation with someone close to the team's general manager.

Gardner-Johnson is a safety known for playing with an edge — physical, vocal, the kind of player who tends to make things uncomfortable for the other team, and sometimes for the people around him.
