Quarterback · Indianapolis Colts
Daniel Jones
No. 17 · 8th season
Jones earned the contract, then the Achilles came for it
He finally got the moment. After years of proving himself worthy of a big deal, Daniel Jones had the season that made the number real — and then, late in the year, the ground gave out.
A torn Achilles is one of the hardest injuries a player can face. The comeback is long, and there are no guarantees about what you look like on the other side of it. Jones earned everything that came before it. What he gets back is still an open question.
The Indianapolis Colts are not treating it as an open question — at least not yet. They are leaning on Jones as their guy heading into 2026, which means the season ahead is as much about what he can still be as it is about what the team can do. That is a lot of weight to put on a repaired tendon.
The contract says the Colts believe in him. Now comes the part where Jones has to believe in himself again, one step at a time.
