Kansas City and Morris worked together to find him a way out
Trades happen all the time. This one came with a detail worth noticing: the Kansas City Chiefs and offensive tackle Wanya Morris reportedly worked together to find him a new home before the deal was done.
Morris is heading to the Atlanta Falcons, along with a seventh-round pick in 2027. Kansas City gets a sixth-round pick back. On paper, it's a clean swap — a team moving on from a player, a player moving on from a team.
But that one line — that they worked together on it — changes the shape of the story. It means this wasn't a player blindsided by a Tuesday phone call. It was a conversation. Whatever wasn't working in Kansas City, both sides decided a fresh start was the better answer, and then they actually went and found one.
For Morris, Atlanta is a new city, a new offensive line room, a new chance to carve out a role.
