Fullback · San Francisco 49ers

Kyle Juszczyk

No. 44 · 14th season

Kyle Juszczyk isn't going anywhere, and he wants you to know it

There are players who let their situation speak for them. Juszczyk is not one of them.

He plays fullback for the San Francisco 49ers — one of the rarest, most quietly demanding jobs in football. A fullback runs in front of other people's glory, blocking so someone else can score, catching passes as an afterthought, staying relevant in an era that has largely stopped designing for his position.

So when Juszczyk says he is nowhere near done, it lands differently than a quarterback saying the same thing. He is not defending a featured role. He is defending the idea that the role exists at all.

Whatever the noise around his future — his age, his contract, the league's drift away from the position — he is drawing a line. Not quietly.

“I feel so good and I’m still having so much fun,” Juszczyk said. “I’m in zero pain whatsoever, and like you said, I feel like I’m still playing at such a high level. So, I just want to continue this thing as long as I possibly can. It’s been such a great offseason, like OTAs were so enjoyable.”
