Tight End
Luke Lachey
No. 42 ยท 2nd season
Luke Lachey failed his physical, then the Packers called again anyway
Most players get one shot at a roster spot. Lachey is on his second with the Green Bay Packers in the same offseason, and that says something.
Not much is on the record about what brought Lachey here the first time, but the result was plain: he didn't pass the team's physical examination, the standard health check every player must clear before a contract goes through, and the Packers let him go. That's usually the end of the story.
It wasn't. Green Bay brought him back, signed him, and moved on from wide receiver Jakobie Keeney-James to make room on the roster.
For Lachey, a tight end still looking for a foothold in the league, this is the kind of second chance that most players in his position don't get. The Packers had the same information everyone else had โ they'd already seen the physical results โ and they came back anyway. That's worth paying attention to.
