Miller asked her not to take the blessing from him
A grocery store line isn't where most people expect to meet an NFL player. But Christen Miller wasn't there to be recognized — he just wanted to pay it forward.
Miller is a rookie defensive tackle with the New Orleans Saints, a big body whose job is to make life hard for people on Sundays. Off the field, apparently, he operates by a different set of instructions entirely — ones his mother gave him a long time ago.
When a woman let him cut ahead of her in line, he didn't just say thanks and move on. He covered her groceries. And when she tried to wave him off, he told her exactly why he couldn't let that happen: his mom taught him to do good deeds, and he needed her to let him do this one.
That line — "please don't take that blessing from me" — says something about how Miller was raised and what he's carrying into his first season. The Saints got a defensive tackle. They may have also gotten someone who takes the word "character" seriously in a way that shows up in checkout lines.
Rookies spend their first year trying to prove they belong. Miller seems to already know who he is.

I love this: #Saints rookie DT Christen Miller paid for the groceries of a woman who allowed him to go ahead of her in line. Miller told her: “My momma always taught me to do good deeds, and I’d like to bless you today. Please don’t take that blessing from me.” 🙏❤️🙏 https://t.co/ffecRf1kg8
