No setbacks, no timetable — Brian Branch is just waiting

The hardest part of an Achilles tear isn't the surgery. It's the months after, when the work is invisible and the calendar refuses to cooperate.

Branch has been one of the Detroit Lions' most important defensive players — a safety who reads the field fast and makes the people around him better. Last December, that all stopped. A torn Achilles ended his season, and he hasn't been back on the field since.
