Cornerback · Denver Broncos
Jahdae Barron
No. 23 · 2nd season
Nobody expected the Broncos to take Barron at 20. The Broncos did anyway.
Mock drafts are a whole genre of being wrong, and the 2025 draft gave everyone a reminder. When the Denver Broncos were on the clock at pick 20, most people had them going a different direction — partly because Barron was expected off the board earlier, and partly because Denver already had a cornerback room that didn't look like a glaring hole on the roster.
Barron played cornerback at the University of Texas, and whatever the evaluators saw there, they saw enough to spend a top-20 selection on it.
That's the thing about a pick like this. It's not a need pick — it's a conviction pick. The Broncos looked at the board, saw Barron still sitting there, and decided the value was too good to ignore, even with what they already had. That's a statement about how they see him, not just how they filled a spot.
Now comes the part that's harder to mock-draft: proving it right.
