Defensive Back · New York Giants
Tyler Nubin
No. 27 · 3rd season
Nubin thinks this defense was built for someone like him
There is a version of a safety who just cleans up. And then there is the kind who goes and gets it. Tyler Nubin wants to be the second one.
Nubin is a young safety for the New York Giants, still finding his footing in the league, still showing the people around him what he can do. He has ball skills. Whether a scheme can put those skills to use is a different question — and it is the question that has mattered most to him heading into this stretch.
He says he is comfortable with what defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson is asking of him. The scheme, as Nubin describes it, is opportunistic — built to create chances, not just prevent them. For a player who wants to make plays on the ball, that word means something.
If the defense does what Nubin believes it can, his season will look different from what anyone has seen from him before. That is the bet he is making. Now comes the part where he proves it.
