Offensive Lineman · Arizona Cardinals

Paris Johnson Jr.

No. 70 · 4th season

Paris Johnson Jr. is spending his summer building toward something

There's a certain kind of player who treats the offseason like a second job. Paris Johnson Jr. is in Cleveland this summer, and he didn't come to relax.

Johnson plays left tackle for the Arizona Cardinals — the position that keeps a quarterback upright and, when done well, goes almost unnoticed. He came out of Ohio State as one of the more anticipated offensive linemen in recent memory, and a big contract extension feels like a matter of when, not if.

So he's working with LeCharles Bentley, a former Pro Bowl center who has become one of the most respected teachers in the game for big men in the trenches. The two are also putting together an invite-only development camp for young linemen — passing along what they're refining, to the next group coming up.

That's the part that says something. Johnson could spend this summer doing nothing and probably still get paid. Instead he's in a gym in Cleveland, doing the work early, on purpose.

The contract will come. The question is what kind of player he becomes before it does.

A Cleveland summer vacation for former Ohio State and current #AZCardinals LT Paris Johnson Jr. as he works with LeCharles Bentley to improve his game ahead of an expected big payday. The two will also hold an invite-only, “high-level development camp” for young linemen.
