No. 1 · 3rd season
Pearsall's knee is swollen again, and the 49ers are watching closely
Training camp is supposed to be the part where you prove last season is behind you. For Ricky Pearsall, it's starting with a familiar problem instead.
Pearsall is a wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers who dealt with a PCL injury last season. That history matters now because the swelling showing up in his knee isn't being treated as something new — the team has connected it directly to that prior injury. He sat out of practice while the organization evaluates what they're dealing with.
A knee that keeps talking to you is a different kind of problem than one that heals clean. The 49ers are clearly not brushing this off, and Pearsall is right back in that familiar position of waiting on answers when the field is where he wants to be.
Camp is short. The window to build chemistry, earn snaps, and make a case doesn't wait. What happens in the next few days matters more than it usually would.
