Dohnte Meyers
No. 81 · Rookie
Presbyterian, Delta State, the CFL, Uber Eats, and finally Cincinnati
Most people who end up in the NFL took a straight line to get there. Dohnte Meyers did not take a straight line.
Meyers, 25, is a receiver who came up through Presbyterian College and Delta State — programs most casual fans have never had reason to think about. There was no obvious next step after that. At some point, he was delivering food through Uber Eats. At another, he was playing in the Canadian Football League, on a different continent from where he wanted to be.
Now he is with the Cincinnati Bengals, and the road to get here is the kind that tends to produce a particular type of player — someone who has had plenty of time to think about what they would do if they ever got a real shot.
A roster spot on an NFL team is the destination for almost everyone who ever laced up at any level. For Meyers, it is also the punchline to a very long joke he has been telling about himself for years. The question now is what he does with the room.
