Princeton Fant's season is over before it really began

A torn ligament in the knee is one of the hardest things a football player can hear. It means months of surgery and rehab, a whole season watched from the sideline, and the long work of trying to come back the same player you were.

Princeton Fant plays for the Dallas Cowboys, and that is where his year ends. A torn ACL — the ligament that holds the knee together and makes the cuts and pivots of football possible — has cost him the rest of the season.

For any player, losing a full year this way is its own kind of grief. The work that went into making a roster, the preparation through the offseason — all of it now deferred. The Cowboys lose a player from their depth, and Fant loses something harder to measure.
