Robertson-Harris tore his Achilles before the season even started
The hardest injuries to watch are the ones that happen before the cameras really turn on. Roy Robertson-Harris didn't make it to training camp healthy — he tore his Achilles during the team's offseason program, the kind of injury that ends a player's year before it begins.
Robertson-Harris plays defensive line for the New York Giants. The Achilles is one of the longer recoveries in football — typically nine months to a year — which means his 2025 season is almost certainly gone. The Giants first placed him on the physically unable to perform list when camp opened, then moved him to injured reserve, which makes it official: he won't be playing this year.
For a player on the defensive line, where so much of the job runs through burst and first-step quickness, an Achilles tear isn't just time lost. It's a question the player has to answer all over again on the other side of it. That answer is still a long way off.
