Still under contract to San Francisco, Aiyuk posted 'go Commanders'
There is a particular kind of restlessness that can't quite stay quiet. Brandon Aiyuk found a way to say something without quite saying it.
Aiyuk spent several seasons as one of the most gifted wide receivers in San Francisco, the kind of player who made the 49ers offense genuinely dangerous. But his relationship with the organization has been complicated, and whatever he's been feeling lately, he put at least a version of it on Instagram: a video, two words — "go Commanders."
The catch is that the 49ers still hold his rights. He is not a Commander. The post is not a trade, not a release, not a signing. It is just a wide receiver, still technically on another team, cheering publicly for a franchise that is not his.
That kind of thing doesn't go unnoticed in a league where roster moves happen on phone calls and every word gets read. Whether it nudges anything forward — or just hangs there as a signal nobody acted on — is the question worth watching.
