Tank Dell says he's getting close to coming back

He's been gone since December. Not traded, not released — just absent, which is its own kind of waiting.

Tank Dell plays wide receiver for the Houston Texans, and before last year's knee injury knocked him out, he was part of what the Texans were building at the position. That's where the story stopped. Months of rehab, no game action, a long quiet stretch while the season moved on without him.

Now Dell is saying the end of that stretch is near. He sees himself returning to the lineup, and he's close enough to say so out loud.

For a receiver, time away from the field isn't just about the knee — it's about timing, trust, the rhythm you have with a quarterback. Months off is a lot to rebuild. But getting to the point where you're willing to name it, to say it's coming? That part matters.

What it looks like when he actually steps back on the field — that's the next question.

“I always knew that’s the main thing, and I always kept that at the front of my head," Dell said, via Aaron Wilson of KPRC. "It’s been a roller coaster ride, to say the least. It’s been a long journey, but I’m built for it, and I’m ready for it, and I was ready for it. I’m getting through it, and it’s light at the end of the tunnel, so I’m almost there.”
