Jacoby Brissett

No. 7 · 11th season

Training camp is days away and Brissett still doesn't have a new deal

The Arizona Cardinals report to training camp Wednesday. Jacoby Brissett, their quarterback, is still working on getting paid what he thinks he's worth before he walks through the door.

Brissett has been around long enough to know how these conversations go. He has played on enough rosters, filled enough gaps, and shown enough reliability that a contract paying him under five million dollars is a number people in the building are apparently willing to revisit. That part, at least, is agreed on. The actual number isn't.

The two sides are in talks about a raise for the coming season, but as of now they haven't landed on anything. The clock isn't abstract — camp opens in days, and how this resolves will set the tone before a single rep is taken.

For Brissett, it's not just money. It's the kind of acknowledgment that comes from a team choosing to pay you more before they have to. That distinction tends to matter to a player who has spent a career being needed at exactly the right moment.
