Nose Tackle · Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Vita Vea
No. 50 · 9th season
Vea asked out. Now he's not even practicing.
The timing has a way of speaking for itself.
Vita Vea has been one of the most dominant defensive tackles in football — a run-stopper so disruptive that opposing offenses game-plan around him before a snap is taken. For years, he has been the anchor of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' defensive line.
This week, Vea asked for a trade. Then, before any of that could settle, head coach Todd Bowles confirmed Vea tweaked something and is not practicing.
A trade request already changes the air in a building. An injury on top of it complicates everything — his leverage, his market, his timeline. Teams looking to acquire him now have a question they didn't have 48 hours ago.
Whatever Vea is working through, this week just got heavier.
