In quarterback draft classes, there's always one name everyone else gets measured against. Heading into the 2026 NFL Draft, that name was Fernando Mendoza — widely seen as the most complicated, most interesting evaluation in the group. Brendan Sorsby was sitting just behind him, ahead of the rest.

Then a supplemental draft entered the picture. A supplemental draft is a separate process the NFL holds for players who become eligible outside the normal spring window — think transfers, eligibility changes, late-breaking circumstances — and the teams that participate give up a future pick to do it.
